These paintings are about men's dreams. Each and every one of them would like to have such a woman at home - a pretty doll, a little wife, so comely and charming, and loving, and forgiving everything. Most men would also like to own a woman, have power over her. It would be best if she were so tiny and defenseless. This is also a dream about tenderness.
