Description:
Photorealism used to be in fashion in the 70s. Łukasz Korolkiewicz, Antoni Fałat or Andrzej Sadowski were some of its Polish representatives. I, too, decided to paint some pieces based on photographic slides projected onto the canvass. In the painting Sexual Revolution, I am kissing Teresa and in the background, there are our friends. Starting from the left: Ewa Radziejowska, the first husband of Zosia Kulik - Staszek, below Justyna Jaszczewska, and behind me there is Tereska's friend from sculpture - Staś - and Ewa Kuryluk. In Lolly Dog there is Tereska painted from a photo and a dog added to it. I painted Wedding on the basis of a negative I borrowed from my sister, who worked in a photographic shop. The table and lamps are added from imagination to this one. In fact, these paintings weren't photorealistic. I tried to interpret this trendy current in my own way. But this was just one shot. Painting from slides didn't suit me at all. It restricted expression too much. (E.D.)
