Description:
In 1971 Rafał Wojaczek killed himself and it was said that many young, sensitive people followed in his footsteps. It wasn't about the poetry, but about this suicidal act. Yet the poet in my painting cannot hang himself. He's trying, holding the desk.
It is a very typical interior from the time of the People's Republic of Poland - typical of blocks. A paned door with a doorknob, which could fall out any minute (so we'll never know if this poet is going to die or not). If you banged the door the pane would fall out. And everybody had these desks...
